FanHouse caught up to WBA welterweight (140 pounds) champion Amir Khan of England. He will make the fourth defense of his crown opposite WBA interim counterpart Marcos Rene Maidana of Argentina in an HBO-televised fight on Dec. 11 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas.
The 23-year-old Khan (23-1, 17 knockouts) will be making his debut in the gambling city. He's coming off his American debut in May, a 11th-round knockout of former world titlist Paulie Malignaggi at the WaMu Theatre at Madison Square Garden.
Promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, Khan has won five straight bouts, including three by stoppage and one by fifth-round technical decision over ex-world champion Marco Antonio Barrera of Mexico since being knocked out in the first round by Breidis Prescott in September of 2008. Khan earned the WBA crown in July 2009 by decision over Ukrainian Andriy Kotelnik.
The 27-year-old Maidana has won three straight, all by knockout, including six-rounders over contender Victor Ortiz and previously unbeaten Victor Cayo. Maidana is coming off of last month's tough, unanimous decision over ex-world champion De Marcus Corley. Khan-Maidana is taking place following contentious negotiations between the two, which Khan discusses during this Q&A.
